Advanced Testimonial — a testimonial plugin that collects its own reviews

By Monowar Hossain

Summary. Advanced Testimonial is a free WordPress plugin built only for customer reviews. It stores them properly, shows them in seven layouts with mixable card styles, collects new ones through a front-end form, and adds the Schema.org markup Google needs for star ratings. No page-builder addon pack, no Pro version.

The usual trade-off, skipped

The hard part of testimonials is rarely showing them. It is getting them — asking customers, collecting their words, approving each one — without pasting every quote in by hand or installing an addon pack of dozens of widgets for a single job.

This plugin is one thing instead: testimonials, done completely. Reviews get their own post type with Groups, each review carries its own fields — rating, company, verified badge, video — and visitors can submit their own through a form. Nothing else rides along.

Reviews that arrive on their own

The part most testimonial plugins skip is collection. Here a [at_form] shortcode drops a submission form anywhere, with a honeypot and rate limiting built in so it does not become a spam tap. Submissions arrive as pending and stay there until approved — nothing goes live by accident, and the export only ever covers published reviews.

Shown anywhere, styled per spot

Seven layouts — grid, list, card, carousel, marquee, masonry and spotlight — through a block, a shortcode or an Elementor widget. Card styles mix freely, including a different style per block, and Groups mean the homepage and the pricing page never have to show the same set. Ratings support half stars, and video reviews from YouTube, Vimeo or a self-hosted file open in a lightbox.

Stars Google can read

Every review carries Schema.org markup, so eligible pages can show star ratings right in the search results. That is the quiet half of social proof: the reviews persuade on your page, and the stars persuade before anyone clicks.

FAQ

How do new reviews get collected?
Through a front-end submission form with spam protection built in. Submissions arrive as pending, so nothing goes live before you approve it.
Can review stars show in Google search results?
Yes. The plugin ships Schema.org review markup, so Google can show star ratings next to your pages in search results.
Can different pages show different reviews?
Yes. Reviews are organised into Groups, so the homepage, the pricing page and the contact page can each show their own set.
How are testimonials displayed?
Seven layouts — grid, list, card, carousel, marquee, masonry and spotlight — through a block, a shortcode or an Elementor widget, with mixable card styles.
Is there a Pro version?
No. Layouts, card styles, the review form and the schema markup — everything is in the free plugin, reviewed by the WordPress.org team before release.
